New England Art News is a blog, newsletter, and podcast with the mission to circulate resources to artists and art enthusiasts throughout the region.

New England Art News is edited by Providence-based gallerist and writer Michael Rose.

An art professional with over a decade of experience, Michael is the gallery manager at the historic Providence Art Club. He has contributed essays on art and artists to a range of publications including Art New England and Big Red & Shiny. From 2021-2025, he served as the art columnist for local news site GoLocalProv.com, writing weekly profiles and reviews about art across Rhode Island.

Each Friday Michael assembles a Substack newsletter for over 1,500 artists and arts enthusiasts across the region and beyond. Each issue features timely resources including reviews, events, calls for art, grants, residencies, and more.

The New England Art News blog is intended to supplement Michael’s Friday dispatches with longer form pieces about exhibitions and artists throughout New England.
