New England Art News is dedicated to sharing art resources throughout the region and beyond.

New England Art News is edited by Providence-based gallerist and writer Michael Rose.

An art professional with over a decade of experience, Michael is the gallery manager at the historic Providence Art Club. He has contributed essays on art and artists to a range of publications including Art New England and Big Red & Shiny. From 2021-2025, he served as the art columnist for local news site GoLocalProv.com, writing weekly profiles and reviews about art across Rhode Island.

In 2024, Michael founded New England Art News, a dynamic newsletter and blog aimed at sharing art resources throughout the region and beyond. Each Friday Michael assembles a Substack newsletter which is delivered to over 2,000 artists and arts enthusiasts. Each issue features timely assets including reviews, events, calls for art, grants, residencies, and more.

The New England Art News blog is intended to supplement Michael’s Friday dispatches with longer form pieces about exhibitions and artists throughout New England.
